Golf legend, John Daly, was celebrated as the recipient of the 2026 Ambassador of Golf Award during a special ceremony held Thursday, July 9, at House Three Thirty in Akron. Presented by the Northern Ohio Golf Charities, in conjunction with the Kaulig Companies Championship, the award recognizes individuals whose impact on the game extends far beyond their accomplishments on the golf course.
Surrounded by friends, family, sponsors and members of the golf community, Daly was honored for a career defined by authenticity, generosity and a lasting connection with fans around the world.
Known for his larger-than-life personality and unmistakable style, Daly has remained one of golf’s most recognizable figures for more than three decades. The two-time major champion captured the 1991 PGA Championship as a ninth alternate before adding the 1995 Open Championship to his resume. Beyond his victories, Daly has earned admiration for embracing the game on his own terms while remaining one of golf’s most approachable ambassadors.
The evening featured a cocktail reception, dinner and a program highlighting Daly’s remarkable journey – from his improbable breakthrough at Crooked Stick to becoming one of the sport’s most beloved personalities. Guests also enjoyed stories from throughout Daly’s career, reflecting on the moments that have made him one of golf’s most unforgettable champions.
Daly’s recognition served as a fitting kickoff to the 2026 Kaulig Companies Championship, celebrating not only his achievements on the course but also the authenticity, resilience and charisma that have made him a fan favorite across generations.
