Zach Johnson Wins at Firestone Country Club for First PGA Tour Champions Major Title

Zach Johnson captured his first PGA TOUR Champions major championship on Sunday, winning the Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone Country Club with a commanding six-shot victory. After taking control of the tournament with a third-round 63, Johnson closed with a 2-under 68 to finish at 15-under par, securing his third victory of the season in his rookie campaign on the PGA TOUR Champions. Despite an early pair of bogeys in the final round, Johnson remained in control throughout the day, capping off his performance with a chip-in birdie on the final hole.

Johnson’s victory also earned him an exemption into next year’s THE PLAYERS Championship and further solidified an impressive debut season on the PGA TOUR Champions. While reflecting on the tournament’s future, Johnson acknowledged the bittersweet nature of Firestone hosting its final edition of the championship, expressing hope that professional golf will one day return to one of the game’s most iconic venues.
